Local authorities began to close the municipal centre of Bolnisi and Rachisubani due to an increase in the number of people infected with the coronavirus. Villages of Kazreti and Balichi were declared as a strict quarantine zone, said Kvemo Kartli Governor Shota Rekhviashvili.
According to him, in the municipality 19 cases of COVID-19 infection were confirmed, many of them are doctors — paramedics and their families. The process of identifying their contacts is being present.
“Unfortunately, there is a massive increase in the spread of the disease in the municipality of Bolnisi. These are 19 confirmed cases, mostly families of ambulance teams. Among the infected one is a nurse from Marneuli, the latest test confirmed that she is positive,” Rekhviashvili said.
In total, according to the governor, 70 cases of infection and one death were recorded in the region.
Under the decision of the city council of Bolnisi, due to the high epidemiological risk and to prevent the widespread of coronavirus, the villages of Kazreti and Balichi were closed yesterday and declared as a strict quarantine zone.
The governor once again urged the population to stay home, otherwise, the situation will get out of control.
