Georgian government on supporting cities during shut down

According to the decree on «Prevention of the spread of coronavirus in Georgia», restrictions on movement in closed cities (Tbilisi, Rustavi, Batumi and Kutaisi) will not affect employees of medical institutions, journalists and representatives of the diplomatic structures accredited in Georgia.

During these 10 days, cargo transportation will be carried out, both international and domestic.

During the same period, transportation of accused and convicted persons to prisons, collection of cash, precious metals and other valuables are also allowed.

Movement in closed cities is possible with the intention of providing electricity, natural gas, as well as the production, transmission, distribution and supply of water, including telecommunication, postal and waste management services.

There are no travel restrictions for international organizations with humanitarian goals.

Entrance and exit in closed cities are not prohibited for security services during the performance of their duties.

Government agencies and entities that are allowed to carry out economic activities under the decree and vehicles whose movement is critical for the performance of official duties during a state of emergency.

Entrance to these cities is not prohibited to citizens registered in them and leaving is not forbidden to those who are registered in other municipalities, says the decree published on the website of the Legislative Herald of Georgia.

Restrictions take effect on April 15, 2020, from 21:00.
