Russian Foreign Minister hopes for a quick solution with Georgia

Министр иностранных дел РФ надеется на быстрое решение проблемы авиасообщения с Грузией

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov hopes to resume air service with Georgia soon.

“Unfortunately, the air service is still frozen. I hope that in the near future we will be able to solve this problem,” said Lavrov, speaking via video call at the A.M. Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, Interfax reports.

He noted that it was not Russia that initiated the severance of diplomatic relations with Georgia, and was ready to restore them. “But, probably, it will be necessary to wait until the Georgian colleagues approach this issue,” Lavrov added.

According to him, Russia is ready to consider opening a trade office in Georgia.

“I don’t think that this will add any advantages immediately, but if we are offered, we will definitely consider such opportunity,” the minister said.
