The Telegraph: Ivanishvili donates the most in the world against the fight with coronavirus

Bidzina Ivanishvili donated the most to the fight against coronavirus in the world in terms of per capita, writes the British edition of The Telegraph.

Ivanishvili transferred 100 million lari to the Georgian StopCov fund (about 30 million US dollars). The publication indicates that the indemnity of a billionaire for each resident of the country is $ 7.51.

The article says that Ivanishvili’s fortune is $ 4 billion, which is about 1/3 of Georgia’s GDP.

The Telegraph notes that Ivanishvili made a fortune by buying a business during the era of Russian privatization and selling it with huge profits.

Interview with the British edition was given by the current Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia.

“Bidzina Ivanishvili’s charity has been supporting the Georgian state and institutions for several decades, providing tremendous assistance in preserving the Georgian cultural identity. The pandemic is no exception. Bidzina Ivanishvili again showed great support and compassion for his fellow citizens in the face of a common threat,” Gakharia said.

The second position after Ivanishvili in the ranking of the largest donors (taking into account the per capita donation) is Australian businessman Andrew Forrest.

The leader of the “Georgian Dream” is ahead of Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Michael Bloomberg, Silvio Berlusconi and Alisher Usmanov.
