Заместитель министра здравоохранения Тамар Баркалая

Financial assistance of Georgian citizens who were left without work during the pandemic will begin in the second half of May, said Deputy Minister of Health Tamar Barkalaia.

According to her, first of all, assistance will be given to people who are already identified in the bases of the Ministry of Health and the Revenue Service. These are formally employed people who have remained without income, people who are registered in the database of socially unprotected citizens, as well as people and children with disabilities.

The registration process for self-employed people will begin on May 15. A special portal will open on the website of the Ministry of Health, where people can leave their data. Within two weeks, this information will be studied, after which the money will be credited in stages.

The Ministry of Finance of the country has developed special and detailed instructions for helping all categories of citizens who are entitled to payments under the anti-crisis plan of the Government of Georgia.

According to the decision of the Ministry of Finance, ones that carried out any economic activity and received income, except for those who worked under the contract, are considered self-employed.

They are conditionally divided by the Ministry into two categories: those registered individually in the Revenue Service and those whose economic activity is not officially recorded.

According to the latest data, up to 150 thousand people fell into the first category; the number of people in the second category is unknown.
Those people who carry out taxable economic activities will be able to receive 300 GEL if they filled out a monthly income statement and paid taxes in the first quarter of 2020.

As for micro-business, it must be registered in the Revenue Service.

For individual entrepreneurs, it will be sufficient to submit until April 1, 2020, the annual declaration for 2019 or the turnover recorded in the first quarter on a cash register.

Small businesses will also have a sufficiently completed income statement or cash register turnover in the first quarter.

Earnings filled out in the first quarter or cash register turnover will also suffice for market sellers, but their work can also be confirmed by the Market Directorate in the Revenue Service.
