In Poland, it was decided to elect a president by mail due to the coronavirus pandemic, reports Reuters.

It is noted that the Sejm, the lower house of parliament, overcame the veto of the Senate, the upper house, and approved the law, which allows for the election of the president by postal vote. Moreover, it will not take place on May 10, as originally planned. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, now we can talk about a possible date for their holding in June. The law must now be approved by President Andrzej Duda, who had previously spoken out in support of this proposal.

Elections cannot be held traditionally due to quarantine measures, opponents of postal voting fear that elections will not be fair and transparent.

According to the latest data, in Poland more than 15 thousand are infected with coronavirus, 733 people died. Because of the speed of spread in the country, they introduced an emergency mode, closed the borders for foreigners and decided to send all those entering the republic to a 14-day quarantine.
